HERO Campaign Partners
with TEAM Coalition at Live
Nation 2009 Summer Concerts
Northeast USA, Summer 2009 During the summer of 2009, the HERO Campaign for Designated Drivers® partnered with TEAM Coalition and various Live Nation venues to encourage concert goers to pledge to never drink and drive and learn that Responsibility Has Its Rewards (RHIR).
Almost 1500 Sober Designated
Drivers take the pledge.
To date, 1465 concert goers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania have signed the “Be a Hero. Be a Designated Driver®” pledge at a Live Nation Concert. A lucky few of those pledge signers will be rewarded with tickets to any Live Nation concert of their choice. Additionally, there has been over 50 dedicated volunteers who have worked the concerts reminding everyone of the importance of using or being a designated driver.
The HERO Campaign was founded, by the family of Ensign John R. Elliott, who was killed by a drunk driver soon after he graduated from the Naval Academy. The mission of the Campaign is to prevent future drunken driving tragedies through education and awareness programs. The Campaign has been adopted and promoted by multiple states, professional sports teams, schools, colleges and the U. S. Navy.
TEAM Coalition is an alliance of professional and collegiate sports, entertainment facilities, concessionaires, stadium service providers, the beer industry, broadcasters, governmental traffic safety experts, and others working together to promote responsible drinking and positive fan behavior at sports and entertainment facilities.
